So we went to the salon today, and I got my hair chopped off. Here are two recent before pictures, and the after. It’ll take some getting used to (I’ve never had it so short), but I feel like Mary Margaret from Once Upon A Time.

Another luna moth encounter yesterday, same place and time. Don’t know if it’s the same one as before. This one was male too but pretty beat up. Had some difficulty getting him to stay safely in a tree. But he managed to fly up onto a high branch before I had to get back to work.

This beautiful luna moth came to visit me today while on break at work. I just stumbled upon him when I was heading back inside. He was still full of life and flew into a tree when I tried picking him up. I’ve never seen a luna moth in person. I’ve always wanted to see one. In May last year, I had the pleasure of meeting my first larger moth—a polyphemus moth that had become attached to me. I never knew if I’d be lucky enough to come across a luna.

I believe there was a reason I had this “random” encounter with this little guy today.

Last night in a dream, a little over 4 months since my dad passed away, I think I finally received the sign I’ve been waiting for to let me know his soul is okay and lives on somewhere.

I’ve been worrying over this a lot lately, that I still haven’t received the sign I asked for. At my dad’s funeral, as I stood beside his casket, I silently pleaded and prayed for my dad to give me a sign to let me know he was okay…even if that sign was in a dream.

The dream I had was a lucid dream (only had them about twice, and haven’t had one in a while), and the first time I haven’t woken up when I realized it was a dream.

Last night, the first dream I had, I saw my dad. I knew in the dream that his purpose in this dream was to visit me.

He looked relatively the same age as he was when he died, perhaps a bit younger, but healthier. He didn’t have a cane (for many years he’d walked with one). We were outside, on a playground, very open.

I hugged him for a long time. I asked him where he’d been.

He said he’d been with two other people whose names I didn’t recognize. I didn’t question who they were, I just accepted it, and we moved into a conversation that I can’t remember. But I didn’t ask him anything about death or the afterlife.

I think the people he visited are significant. Kym’s mom had told me that after her dad died, she had a dream where he was in it. He told her he was helping someone, a name she didn’t recognize.

In my dream, after I talked with my dad for a bit about things I can’t remember, the dream shifted into one of my ordinary, stupid dreams.

I woke up a bit after that dream with my dad, and I felt relieved. Then I fell back asleep and had some dreams with recurring themes.

I believe having that dream, followed by seeing that luna moth later in the day…seems like a pretty significant sign to me.

when i was little and my parents were driving id pretend there was a man/being/thing running alongside the car who had to follow certain rules like “he can only travel by jumping from streetlight to streetlight” or “he can only walk on fences”

i was so surprised to find out that other people did similar things

i wonder what the underlying psychology behind it is

like its a really specific thing to do but almost everyone did it without telling other kids about it because we all thought it was probably weird or unimportant

I always imagined it as a fox or a tiger running alongside the car, jumping over things and eating things.

Guilty

no you don’t fucking understand

my mother makes fun of me every single fucking day because i never learned how to pronounce “infirmary”, “invalid”, “mischievous”, “naivety”, “tousled”, or “macabre”

IT’S LITERALLY THE WORST THING BECAUSE EVERYONE THINKS YOU’RE AN IDIOT BUT NOBODY USES THE DAMN WORDS AROUND YOU SO YOU NEVER KNOW HOW THEY’RE SAID

^ THIS JUST ABOUT SUMS UP MY WHOLE LIFE

I pronounced “apprentice” as “ap-REE-shee-ant” for like half my life.

is nobody gonna mention “chaos” OR SHOULD I SAY “CHA O’s”

fucking lapels man or mAYBE “LAY-PELS”

…that’s not even how “apprentice” is spelled…

Tumblr is a safe place to admit this: I have on multiple occasions got audiobooks out purely to hear how certain words are said. These words include ‘macabre’, ‘trousseau’, ‘niche’ and ‘forte’.

oh my god ‘lapels’ isn’t pronounced ‘lay-pels’?

lah-pells, I belive.

I pronounced “incredulous” like “in-cre-DOO-less” for 16 years. Also, epitome was “epi-tohm.” /o\

And “Colonel” it wasn’t until I was in my english class in 11th grade that I learned you pronounced it “Ker-nal” I thought they were just two different military ranks.

I literally have a Google Chrome add on so that I can highlight a word and have it say it to me because I got so tired of this.

My mom told me that when she was 17 she got really mad at her boyfriend and called him a bad word but she pronounced it wrong because she’d only read it and he laughed so hard he peed

literally me.

macabre

“mack-a-bray”

hey! Tag! Here are the rules: Each tagged person must post ten things about themselves. You have to choose and tag ten of your favorite blogs. Go to their blogs and tell them that you’ve tagged them.

Oh my goodness, I’ve never been tagged for anything like this on tumblr. Woo! This’ll probably be boring, haha.

  1. I am obsessed with sloths.
  2. And dinosaurs. I could go on and on about how fascinating they are. I hate when people think they’re just for children. It’s science!
  3. I also think physics is fascinating, despite how insanely complex it can be.
  4. I’m a Hufflepuff.
  5. I’m gay.
  6. We have 3 cats: Arnie, Schniffy, and Oliver.
  7. I enjoy cooking.
  8. I hate Macs and Apple Elitists.
  9. I’m a Gemini.
  10. I cooked up some Al Fresco sweet apple chicken sausage this morning, and it was delicious. So good with honey.

Kym knows how to hook a girl up and pamper her!

My back was hurting really bad today, so I took a bath, and she set me up with ice cream, decaf coffee, a Yankee candle, and Prince of Tennis to watch.

Awesome. <3

We had Korean Barbecue for the first time!

roosterblue:

And boy howdy, was it amazing!  We ordered Bul Gogi, sliced beef sirloin and my god, I’ve never tasted anything so delicious.  You could tell the beef was aged perfectly, as it practically melted in your mouth.  And the various sides were delicious.

We also ordered Yachae Pajeon - a Korean pancake with various vegetables.  Again, it was amazing!  The flavors of every bite was otherworldly.

And it was only 1 mile from our apartment. ;D
